They’re back!
Monthly live gigs at Oamaru’s Penguin Entertainers Club are starting again from tomorrow night.
The famous music venue tucked away in a lane off Harbour St has not been able to host public concerts for some time due to Covid complications. Now, though, its committee is delighted to welcome people across its threshold to sample both visiting and local bands.
The headline act tomorrow night is Dunedin three-piece band Ajax and the Washin’ Up. It will be supported by Oamaru bands The Road Doggz and The Fabulous Bs.
The doors open at 7.30pm and the gig begins at 8pm. Entry is $10 for non-members and $5 for members.
Next month, Christchurch performers Moonflower and Road Cone are heading south to take the Penguin Entertainers Club stage.
The club was founded 32 years ago. Its interior walls are adorned with posters, signatures, and messages from dozens of musicians, some legendary, who have performed there throughout the decades.
On the second and final Fridays of each month it holds members’ jam nights, where each member can take along three guests.
